Supongo que al colocar esos 3 postes (ups, ignora lo de los 3 postes, leí mal la pregunta. De todas formas está bien enfocada) se refiere a que la circunferencia que forma el cable al rodear la tierra por el ecuador se haga más grande, ¿no?

Si es así, primero calculamos el radio de la tierra por el ecuador:

$2\pi R_T=40.000$

$R_T=\displaystyle\frac{20.000}{\pi}$

Y calculamos el nuevo radio que formará el cable:

$2\pi R=40.006$

$R=\displaystyle\frac{20.003}{\pi}$

Ahora vemos la diferencia:

$\displaystyle\frac{20.003}{\pi}-\displaystyle\frac{20.000}{\pi}=\displaystyle\frac{3}{\pi}$

Entones cada poste tendrá que ser $\displaystyle\frac{3}{\pi}$ km de alto.

Entonces el resultado es colocar muchísimos postes de ese tamaño...
